The abrading action under high centrifugal forces results in short processing cycles, 20-50 times faster than conventional vibratory finishing. Another important advantage is that the counter-rotation of the drums produces a smooth sliding action of media against work-pieces, with no possibility of one workpieces impacting against another.
As a result, consistant and reproducible result can be obtained, close toleraces can be maintained (even with fragile and precision components), and very smooth surface finishes can be produced.
Small-sized media can be used with centrifugal barrel finishing, thus ensuring uniformity of radii and edges, and permitting greater action in holes and recesses. Small parts can be handled as well. Equipment is quiet and requires no special noise abatement measures.
