Entecavir is an antiviral that belongs to a class of drugs known as hepatitis B virus nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors.Entecavir is not a cure for hepatitis B. It does not prevent the spread of the virus to others through sexual or blood/body fluid contamination (such as sharing used needles).Treating HBV infection in certain patients.Entecavir is a nucleoside analogue. If the supply of medicine is insufficient, get more medicine from your doctor or rmacist as soon as possible. Do not stop taking entecavir, even for a short time. If you do this, the virus may become resistant to the drug and become more difficult to treat. Laboratory tests, including liver and kidney function, and HIV and HBV antibodies, may be performed several months after you use entecavir and after discontinuation of entecavir. These tests can be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep an appointment with all doctors and laboratories. Elderly people use entecavir with caution; they may be more sensitive to their effects. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: If you are pregnant, please your doctor. You need to discuss the benefits and risks of taking entecavir during pregnancy. It is not known whether this drug is found in breast milk. Do not breastfeed when taking entecavir.
