We are looking for an oil to use for an existing power generation project in London. The original spec was to use UCO (used cooking oil) as the feedstock to produce the fuel. Unfortunately the generator trials have revealed that the calorific value is poor, so we are seeking an alternative. Working with a UK University, we have found that most virgin oils: Sunflower, Corn, Rape, or Soy will achieve the required results. We are not looking for a particular oil spec, as we feel with the right processing we can achieve the results we need. So I guess we are looking for a waste virgin oil that is maybe a rejected batch. Or perhaps a product that has had less processing than an edible grade. We would like to work with some samples to ensure we have the right product. Our immediate requirements are 100,000 litres for trials with a subsequent 5,000 Metric Tonnes. However, we perceive this to be substantially more by the end of the year.
