To help meet the growing demand for organic produce, a local organic certification was created that benefits producers as well as consumers. In 2015 the government launched its own "Ghana Green Label" certification, a national scheme that reassures consumers of the safety and environmental sustainability of fruits and vegetables. Additionally, with support from international bodies, farmers across the region have created their own system to meet the large demand to grow and certify organic produce. The Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) is used by farmers to monitor each other to follow organic guideth spot checks, reviews of practices and knowledge-sharing. Their products are then certified organic, to sell to local markets. Marae Pure Organics is is a certified organic farm striving to lead the organic push which protects our consumers and the environment.
Marae Pure Organics is equipped with a Solar Borehole system which operates purely on power generated using tovoltaic energy. The tovoltaic array converts the solar energy into electricity, which is used for running the motor pump set. The pumping system draws water from a 250m deep borehole and distributes to the crops. An inverter allows the system to not only be used for irrigation, but also provide lighting to their container home. Some benefits of this Solar Borehole system include:• Eco-friendly• No fuel cost - as it uses available free sun light• No electricity required• Long operating life• Highly reliable and durableMarae Pure Organics believes in the benefits of organic farming.
