Standard is defined as “properties” “TS EN 13162- Thermal Insulation products – For buildings- Mineralwool(MW) fabricated products. Stonewool is produced by melting minerals supplied from volcanic rocks at very high temperatures and making them into fibers. Stonewoolis provides heat and sound insulation in the structures it is applied to. It is also very resistant to fire and good insulation material with water repellency. The ideo of producing wool from stone is based on the exploitation of locally produced woolen yarns after the volcanic eruptions of the Hawaiian Islands. It is produced completely by hand by pouring. The raw material into the furnaces in estimated quantitites in the pre-industrial period and it is produced professionally in developed machines and plants today. Today, rocky, volcanic stone, basalt stone is melted at 1350 oC-1400oC and the fiber is formed as result. Basalt, which is made into fiber, can be produced in the form of mattress, plate, pipe by pressing in various sizes. In addition to thermal insulation, sound insulation and acoustic regulation, the stone lining also provides fire safety. The fact that the thermal conductivity valve of stone is very low maker it a good thermal insulation material. The thermal conductivity value varies from about 0.035 to 0.040 W/m.K usage temperature is between -50/+650oC. In addition to all these features, stone wool applications provide comfort in terms of sound insulation as well as sound insulation. By absorbing sounds from outside or from pther floors, it enhances the living or working comfort in the building.
