Monthong durian is a durian variety of Thailand and was introduced to Vietnam in the
early 1990s. The Monthong durian variety is a yellow rice variety with flat seeds. This is one of the durian varieties that is considered the most delicious today and popular in the world
market.
Monthong durian was brought to Vietnam in the early 1990s. Initially, it was grown in
the Southeast (Tien Giang province, Ben Tre province, Vinh Long province, Can Tho city), later brought up for trial seeding in the Central Highlands.
Monthong durians have an egg shape (one big round head, one small round head), the
spines are sparse and large. With the quality of fresh yellow meat, thick, smooth, fibrous-free, and the output is uniform throughout the year, Monthong durian has a moderate aroma and taste,
which is very suitable for believers who like gentle sweetness.
The way to choose Monthong durian is to choose the fruits that are large and even, the
stem is fresh, the waist is round, not twisted when tapping on the fruit, it sounds “pump” and it is thick flesh. The flesh part is clearly shown along the fruit body. When separating the
seeds, the flesh is thick and beautiful, with a light aroma, and a strong sweetness. These are the most delicious Monthong fruits.
