Precautions for the use of potentiometers
1.Use chemicals with caution
Potentiometers should avoid exposing the potentiometer to a strong atmosphere of chemicals such as ammonia, amines, alkali solutions, aromatics, ketones, esters,
halocarbons and other chemicals due to the use of synthetic resins such as polycarbonates.
2.Use flux with caution
Water-soluble fluxes should be avoided when soldering, otherwise it will adversely affect the metals and other materials of the potentiometer
3.Solder
The wiring design and soldering method should avoid causing the melted tin to flow to the upper plane of the PC board, as shown in Figure 1, which can cause poor
contact.
4.Recommended circuit connection
When the potentiometer is used as a variable resistor, it is recommended to be used as a voltage divider to adjust the voltage, and the load resistance Rl of the
potentiometer should not be less than 10 times the nominal resistance of the potentiometer.When the potentiometer is used as a current regulation in a DC circuit, there will be current
through the sliding arm of the potentiometer, which will cause an abnormal increase in the resistance value due to anodic oxidation. In this case, it is recommended to connect the terminals
of the resistor value to the negative pole and the slider arm to the positive pole.
5.Residual resistance
Although the potentiometer resistor is a printed silver layer, in order to improve the reliability of the resistance to vulcanization, a carbon film is usually covered in

6.Condensation
During the use of the potentiometer, the surface of the resistive body should avoid condensation or water droplets, otherwise, it will lead to a deterioration or short
circuit of the insulation resistance.
7.Stress applied to the terminals
Special attention should be paid to avoiding excessive force when holding terminals, and the correct solder conditions should be designed.
8.Radial shaking of the shaft
When using a shaft with an excessively long length, its radial shaking momentum will be proportional to the shaft length, and the shaft length should be selected according
to actual needs.
9.Installation of the panel
When the potentiometer is mounted with a nut on the panel, too tight will disable the rotational touch function or the thread slip, and the nut should be locked with great
care.
